I really enjoyed the story, art and characters, so I was eagerly awaiting the next chapter to release. Life comes at you sometimes and I got delayed in checking out chapter 2 when it released back in April.

I’ve finally had the opportunity to sit down and read it, so it’s time to share my thoughts. Was this entry as good as the first one? Let’s find out!The game starts off much like the first chapter with Yukinari moving back to his hometown to await his mother’s release from the hospital, She had been in a coma for seven years following an accident at sea that nearly claimed both their lives. This time around however, Yukinari wasn’t alone, he had his little sister Rikka. She was a quiet and very dedicated little sister that does her best to look after her big brother. I was taken aback by the inclusion of Rikka to start with, since she wasn’t in the first chapter at all.

I knew that each chapter of this was self contained, so I guess I expected the Groundhog Day style time loop, but I never expected them to throw more players into the mix. I really like this however, it has really made me question even more where this story will go in the very end.He soon runs into Alice Kamishiro. She is a witch that has a shop in the forest. Their meeting plays out somewhat differently this time around. I guess Alice never did learn how to fly a broom and I’ll leave it at that. After the two meet she reveals to him that she is not only a witch, but she is why his mother is in a coma. The witch doesn’t perform services for free, she takes your happy memories as payment for wishes.

Neither you nor her choose which wishes will be taken as compensation, but you can rest assured the greater the wish, the higher the price. Yukinari’s mother’s wish to save his life came at a very high price, basically all of her happy memories, and she was placed in a coma because of this. Alice feels a bit indebted to him because of this and decides to look out for him.The last chapter focused on Sakura Narumi, but this time around the focus on the resident tsundere Hotaru Angeline Amano.

She is beautiful, but like with most tsundere gals she is very sharp tongued and can come off as very vicious. She is also one of Alice’s customers, who she has affectionately nicknamed Ange. Though some events Yukinari begins to get close to Hotaru and discovers the details of her contract with Alice. The price of this contract is of course happy memories. Yukinari only wants Hotaru to be happy, so he must find a solution to deal with the contract and keep the one he’s fallen for happy.I thought the story was much better this time around.

One of my big problems with the first chapter was I thought some of Yunkanri’s choices were questionable and maybe even led to the overall problem he faced. This chapter also presents you with an interesting moral dilemma of the needs of the few outweighing the needs of the many. I think Hotaru is a much more interesting and deeper character than Sakura, and the ending has me very interested to see where this series will go. It’s honestly a very powerful and well written tale and I enjoyed it greatly.In the graphics and sound departments not much has changed.

The game is beautiful with some of the best artwork you can find in visual novels. The semi-animated characters and background make the game come to life. The same voice actors from the first game have returned to reprise their roles. They did a fantastic job once again. The immersive soundtrack is back and adds a ton of feeling to a lot of scenes here.

There are only a few new tracks, but those only add more to an OST that was already great.Supipara – Chapter 2 Spring Has Come! is not only amazing in its own right, but it improves on what was already a very captivating story. The artwork and music are top notch, the story is better with a more interesting female lead and it I feel like the story was deeper and more meaningful overall. If I had one complaint, it’s that it takes a little too long to get to the new content since it recaps a lot of stuff from the first chapter because of the time loop. I would guess you don’t really get into the new content for the two or three hours into this around 10 hour game. While that is kind of a drag, it is well worth the wait, and you won’t find very many visual novels of this quality at its $14.99 price tag. I would recommend this to any visual novel fan looking a great tale with some deep meaning and some romance.
